Accessibility Statement
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Illos Piano Restorations, Inc. is committed to making www.illos.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control.
Conformance status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We believe the site substantially conforms to that standard. "Substantially conforms" means that most of the site meets the standard and that we treat anything falling short as a defect to be fixed rather than an acceptable state.
What we have done
- One descriptive
h1on every page, with headings in a logical order beneath it. - Semantic landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer) and a skip-to-content link on every page. - Descriptive text on every link and button, and meaningful alternative text on every image that conveys information.
- Keyboard access to every interactive control, including the menus, the accessibility toolbar and the FAQ panels, with visible focus indicators.
- Text and interface colours checked against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds.
- Form fields with real labels, errors described in text, and an anti-spam question in place of an image CAPTCHA.
- Respect for the operating system's "reduce motion" setting, which stops the homepage slideshow from advancing on its own.
Accessibility toolbar
Every page carries a self-hosted accessibility toolbar, opened from the button at the bottom left of the screen. It offers larger text, increased line height and letter spacing, a more readable typeface, contrast and grayscale modes, link highlighting, stronger focus outlines, a larger cursor, a reading guide and an option to stop animations, plus profiles for seizure safety, low vision, ADHD, dyslexia and keyboard navigation. Your choices are stored in your own browser.
We want to be straightforward about what this is: a preference layer that helps some visitors, not a substitute for an accessible site. The accessibility of these pages comes from how they are built, not from the toolbar.
Known limitations
- 360° virtual tour. The tour of our facility is a third-party panoramic viewer and is not fully keyboard accessible. If you would like a description of the showroom, or a walk-through by telephone, call us and we will happily do that.
- Map. The map on the contact page is a Google embed and inherits Google's own accessibility behaviour. The address, telephone number and opening hours are always available as plain text on that page so you never need the map to reach us.
- Older documents and photographs. Some photographs date back many years and carry short descriptions. If a particular image matters to you and the description is not enough, ask us and we will describe it.
Assessment approach
The site is tested with automated accessibility tooling (axe-core, against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA rule sets), with keyboard-only navigation, and by inspecting the HTML for correct structure and labelling. Automated testing catches only part of what matters, so we also read the pages the way a screen reader would encounter them.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the accessibility button at the bottom of the screen do?
It opens a toolbar with larger text, increased line height and letter spacing, a more readable typeface, contrast and grayscale modes, link highlighting, stronger focus outlines, a bigger cursor, a reading guide and an option to stop animations, plus profiles for seizure safety, low vision, ADHD, dyslexia and keyboard navigation. Your choices are stored in your own browser, not on our server.
Does that toolbar make the site accessible?
No, and we would rather say so. It is a preference layer that helps some visitors. The accessibility of these pages comes from how they are built: one descriptive heading per page, real landmarks, a skip link, labelled controls, keyboard access to everything and colours checked against the WCAG AA thresholds.
Which standard do you work to?
WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We believe the site substantially conforms, which means most of it meets the standard and anything falling short is treated as a defect to be fixed rather than an acceptable state.
Something on the site does not work for me. What should I do?
Tell us. Call 716-832-0013, use the email link, or write to us at 2940 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14214. Describe the page and what happened, and we will fix it. We aim to respond within five business days.
