Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Illos Piano Restorations, Inc. ("Illos", "we", "us") operates the website at www.illos.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have written it to describe what this site actually does, rather than to cover every practice a larger company might have.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, telephone number (if you provide one) and message you type into it. If you call or email us, we hold whatever you choose to tell us. We ask only for what we need to answer your enquiry or quote for work on your piano.
Information collected automatically
Our web host records standard server log data for every request: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and a timestamp. These logs exist for security and troubleshooting and are kept by the host under its own retention schedule.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets a small number of items in your browser:
- Accessibility preferences. If you use the accessibility toolbar, your settings are stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them on your next visit.
- Cookie notice. Your choice on the cookie banner is stored so we do not show it again.
- Session cookie. When you load the contact page, a temporary session cookie holds the anti-spam question so we can check your answer. It expires when you close your browser.
- Google Maps. If you click to load the map on the contact page, Google may set its own cookies in your browser under its own privacy policy. Nothing is set unless you click.
These are all functional. We do not run advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information with data brokers.
How we use your information
- To answer your enquiry, quote for work and arrange service, delivery or collection.
- To keep records of work carried out on an instrument.
- To keep the site secure and working correctly.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not send marketing email to people who have only made an enquiry.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with parties who need it to deliver what you asked for: our web host, our email provider, and, where relevant, a shipping or moving partner handling your instrument. We also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
One exception is worth spelling out. Our contact page shows a placeholder where a Google Map would be. The map does not load until you click it. If you do click it, Google receives your IP address and browser details, as it would on any site embedding a Google Map. If you would rather not involve Google, do not click it: the address, telephone number and opening hours are all printed as plain text on the same page.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept only as long as they are useful, normally no more than two years. Records relating to work performed on an instrument are kept longer, because service history matters for a piano and because guarantees on our work run for years.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Residents of California, and of other states with comparable privacy laws, have specific rights to know, to delete, to correct and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
To make a request, call 716-832-0013 or use the email link on our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
Do Not Track
We do not track visitors across third-party websites, so we take no action on Do Not Track signals beyond that.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and our host applies standard security controls. No website can promise perfect security, but we do not store payment card details on this site and we keep the information we do hold to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you sell my personal information?
No. We do not sell or share personal information as the California and comparable state privacy laws define those terms, and we do not pass anything to data brokers. The only parties who see your details are the ones needed to answer you or deliver your instrument.
What happens to my details after I use the contact form?
Your name, email, phone number and message reach us by email and are also written to a private log so an enquiry cannot be lost if our mail server is down. Enquiries that do not lead to work are normally kept no more than two years; records of work done on an instrument are kept longer, because service history matters for a piano.
How do I ask what you hold about me, or have it deleted?
Call 716-832-0013 or use the email link on our contact page and say what you want. We may need to verify who you are first. We will not treat you differently for asking.
Does this site track me across other websites?
No. There is no advertising pixel and no cross-site tracking, which is why we take no further action on Do Not Track signals. The only things stored in your browser are your accessibility toolbar settings, your cookie-banner choice, and a temporary session cookie on the contact page.
